The low cost and low power i.MX 6ULL ARM® Cortex®-A7 CPU by NXP on 35 x 40mm only - PicoCore™MX6UL by F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH

F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH extends its successful and compact PicoCore™ product family.
This Computer On Module is the perfect solution for portable devices in the industrial and medical sector, as well as for every cost-sensitive application with or without TFT.

The module is based on a NXP i.MX 6ULL ARM® Cortex®-A7 CPU with up to 900MHz.
The PicoCore™MX6UL is offered with up to 512MB SLC NAND Flash or up to 32GB eMMC, an EEPROM is also on the module. Two 80 poles plug connectors (1,5-4mm board-to-board distance) enable numerous interfaces on the base board. Up to 2x Ethernet, 2x USB, 2x CAN, 4x I²C, 4x SPI,
6x UART, Audio (Line In/ Out/ Mic/ Headphone or I2S), SDIO for SD-Card Slot and others are possible.
A 18/ 24bit RGB interface is available for display connection and TFTs up to WXGA can be controlled.  The CPU offers sufficient performance for a modern control interface with e.g. 7“ TFT or 10.1“ TFT. An I²C interface is used to connect a PCAP touch panel. Voltage supply is 5V, power consumption is around 1W (typ.). The temperature range is 0°C - +70°C. -40°C - +85°C is also possible as a special version (special versions on request). F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH also offers customer-specific boards based on the i.MX 6ULL ARM® Cortex®-A7 CPU (feel free to send us the specification of your preferred module).

The Linux operating system (Buildroot and Yocto are supported) was ported by the experienced software team of F&S Elektronik Systeme. Drivers were customized and tested for all interfaces.
We offer a virtual machine, so you can immediately start developing own applications under e.g. QT.

Along with Secure Boot (signed, encrypted), the module has an additional Security Chip.
The programming of the certificates is offered as a service.

Windows Embedded Compact is available on request.

The F&S project guarantee accompanies the customers from the project start to its successful finish. For this we offer starterkits (also with 7“ TFT) and workshops (Linux, QT, Security), documentation for hard- and software development and free support by the experienced engineers of F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH.

PicoCore™MX6UL is available until minimum 2030. More PicoCore™ modules, also with i.MX 8 Cortex®-A53 CPU (64 Bit), will follow.

NXP i.MX 6ULL ARM® Cortex®-A7 CPU                                                      on PicoCore™MX6ULL from F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH                   

Low Power and Low Cost on COM with only 35 x 40mm

The PicoCore™ Computer On Module product family has a new member, based on the NXP i.MX 6 ULL ARM® CPU. It uses a NXP CPU with ARM® Cortex®-A7 core with 900MHz, making PicoCore™MX7UL a very inexpensive COM module. The power loss of only 1W makes it the perfect solution for portable and battery-powered devices.

The PicoCore™MX6UL comes with sufficient memory (RAM, SLC NAND Flash, eMMC Flash).                                                                                        The module offers many interfaces on its 2x 80 poles plug connectors. Part of the interfaces is specified per default (Interfaces-FIX), they are available on other PicoCore™ modules as far as possible. The Interfaces-FIX are 2x Serial (for debugging), 2x Ethernet, 1x USB Host, 1x USB Device, 1x CAN, 1x I²C (for the connection of external touch controllers) and analog audio signals (Line In/ Out/ Mic/ HP). A 24Bit RGB interface with a resolution up to WXGA is available for display connection.

The Linux operating system (Kernel 4.9.88/ Buildroot and Yocto) was ported by the experienced F&S Elektronik Systeme software department. Drivers for all interfaces were customized and tested. A virtual machine is ready for download and one can start the development of their own application under Qt immediately.

Along with Secure Boot (signed, encrypted), another optional security chip can be found on the module. The programming of certificates is also offered as a service.

Windows Embedded Compact is available upon request.

PicoCore™MX6UL will be available at least until 2030. More PicoCore™ Module are available and PicoCore™MX8MM with Cortex®-A53 CPU (64 Bit) will be introduced at Embedded World 2019.
