For PicoCOM1, two different LINUX distributions are available:
- Free Evaluation Edition
- Professional Edition with costs
Evaluation Edition
This BSP edition is free for customers but not supported by emlix. This version was designed for evaluating hardware with Linux as an operating system.
This version was created for testing purposes only. It does not contain all drivers and it cannot be guaranteed that all drivers run smoothly. Neither emlix nor F&S offer support. Installing the software happens at the customer's risk. Potential problems occurring when installing this software lie in the user's own responsibilities. Hardware damages or deleted bootloaders are not a warranty case.
Professional Edition
Professional BSP was designed for the usage in development projects.
Support and free updates make it possible for Professional Edition customers to integrate updates and bug fixes easily.
Compared to the Evaluation Edition, the following features are included (i.a.):
- SPI display
- USB Device driver, Ethernet and file storage
- UBI/ UBIFS/ Squashfs
- e2fsprogs
- e2 packager including tooling
- deployer
- e2sb (fronted for e2 packager)
- dhcp client and server
- eclipse IDE Pro
- mpg123
- duma
- gdb6 on target
- canfestival
- ppp
- ntp
- sqlite
- udev
- Icd4linux
- Start-up Support
- Updates (12 months)
emlix package manager - e2 packager - is one of the interesting features of the Professional Edition, since it is dealing with ressources responsibly. Thanks to appendant tooling, self-designed software can be embedded safely and comfortably into the package administration of the Target.
