Yocto Release Y2024.07
For the CPU NXP i.MX8M Plus F&S offers a Yocto based environment. We offer the Linux BSP fsimx8mp-Y2024.07, which is based on Yocto.
Our standard configuration, which is intended to give a first impression of the functionality of the board, includes the following features: Busybox, gdb, alsa-utils, gstreamer, fbv, matchbox, feh, openssl, openssh, ncurses, can-utils, iproute2, ftpd, httpd, telnet, tftp, and many more.
The BSP contains the source code packages of U-Boot (2021.04), Linux kernel (based on 5.15.160) and Yocto (4.0.20 Kirkstone) adapted by F&S. Also included is our cross toolchain, some sample applications, and all binaries in the default configuration. Last but not least, detailed documents on the hardware are included, as well as the First Steps documentation for an easy start.
F&S offer a virtual machine (based on VirtualBox) with an installed Linux based on the distribution Fedora 36 for free download. All packages necessary to compile our software are already installed. Also, all services (NFS, TFTP) for working with our boards are installed. Our BSP is unpacked and precompiled in the correct directories. With this virtual machine it doesn't matter if you use Windows or Linux as host. Simply download the VHD, import it into VirtualBox and development can begin immediately.

Development start in under an hour
F&S Development Machine - Fedora 36
For a quick start into development with Linux we provide a VirtualBox-based virtual hard disk VHD for download. The VHD uses Fedora 36as Linux distribution.
With this machine you can start your development in less than an hour.
The machine is free of charge for our customers.
VirtualBox is a powerful product for corporate customers and at the same time the only professional solution which is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License Version 2.
The F&S Development Machine contains pre-installed board support packages for fsimx8mm, fsimx8mn and fsimx8mp (64 bit CPU).
The appropriate F&S toolchain is installed in the VHD, the source code is extracted and ready to use.
Necessary system packages and tools are also already installed.
Furthermore, it contains a configured environment for QT development with cross-compile/debug kit, deployment strategy and demo application.

Another member of the compact PicoCore™ Computer On Module product family is offered with NXP i.MX 8M Plus CPU. Heterogeneous Multicore Processor ConceptStarting with the i.MX8M Nano CPU and the i.MX8M Mini CPU, the i.MX8M 8M Plus CPU from NXP rounds off the i.MX8M CPU range. The i.MX 8M Plus is a heterogeneous multicore application processor for embedded modules. Used on the PicoCore™ System on Module, it is ideally suited for applications requiring powerful graphics processing and multimedia features, machine learning, and industrial 4.0 applications. The processor consists of a Dual or Quad ARM® Cortex®-A53 core with up to 1.8GHz, plus a Cortex®-M7 core for real-time processing at 800MHz. Features and InterfacesThe PicoCore™MX8MP has sufficient memory (RAM and eMMC Flash). The module offers many interfaces on the 2x 100 pin connectors. The PicoCore™MX8MP has max. 2x Gigabit Ethernet (opt.. RGMII), 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n WLAN, BT 5.0 LE, 1x USB Host 2.0/3.0, 1x USB Device OTG 2.0/3.0, max. 2x CAN, max. 4x UART, max. 4x I2C, max. 2x SPI and Audio Line In/ Out/ Mic/ Headphone/ I2S. The Dual Image Signal Processor allows a max. of 2x MIPI-CSI cameras. Additionally RTC, max. 4x PWM, SPDIF, ESAI, SAI, and SSI are available. For display control a MIPI-DSI interface with four lanes or 1-2 LVDS interfaces with four lanes, or an LVDS interface with eight lanes or DVI is available. Touch panels can be connected externally via I2C. Operating systemThe operating system adapted for the PicoCore™MX8MP is Linux. Linux Yocto supports all interfaces so that simple software development can be guaranteed without great hardware knowledge. FreeRTOS is available to control the real-time kernel M7. NXP i.MX 8M Plus Linux Development BoardFor an easy start of development, we offer an immediately executable PicoCore™MX8MP starter kit including embedded board, baseboard, display, cables, and access to documentation and software.
