Yocto Release Y2024.09
For the CPU NXP i.MX93 F&S offers a Yocto based environment. We offer the Linux BSP fsimx93-Y2024.09-pre, which is based on Yocto.
Our standard configuration, which is intended to give a first impression of the functionality of the board, includes the following features: Busybox, gdb, alsa-utils, gstreamer, fbv, matchbox, feh, openssl, openssh, ncurses, can-utils, iproute2, ftpd, httpd, telnet, tftp, and many more.
The BSP is based on the following source code packages:
- U-Boot: 2024.04
- Linux-Kernel: 6.6.48
- Yocto: 5.0.3 Scarthgap
Also included is our cross toolchain, some sample applications, and all binaries in the default configuration.
F&S offer a virtual machine (based on VirtualBox) with an installed Linux based on the distribution Fedora 36 for free download. All packages necessary to compile our software are already installed. Also, all services (NFS, TFTP) for working with our boards are installed. Our BSP is unpacked and precompiled in the correct directories. With this virtual machine it doesn't matter if you use Windows or Linux as host. Simply download the VHD, import it into VirtualBox and development can begin immediately.

OSM | with NXP i.MX 93 | |
---|---|---|
The SDT.05 standardisation group was founded at SGET with the aim of defining a standard for a direct solution module. The founding members were IESY GmbH, F&S Elektronik Systeme GmbH and Kontron AG. The advantages of an OSM module are that it can be machine controlled and offers high performance and functions in a small space. The costs and the risk of using connectors are eliminated. Our OSM module in size S is ideally suited for the i.MX 93 application processors from NXP. These NXP CPUs offer efficient machine learning (ML) acceleration and advanced security with integrated EdgeLock® Secure Enclave to support energy-efficient edge computing. The i.MX 93 application processors are the first in the i.MX portfolio to integrate the scalable Arm Cortex-A55 core, which makes Linux®-based edge applications more powerful and energy efficient, and the Arm Ethos™-U65 MicroNPU, enabling developers to build more powerful, cost-effective and energy-efficient ML applications. The i.MX 93 processors, which optimise performance and energy efficiency for industrial, IoT and automotive devices, are based on NXP's innovative Energy Flex architecture. The SoCs offer a comprehensive range of peripherals for the automotive, industrial and consumer IoT market segments. The new OSM module from F&S will be equipped with the i.MX 93 with 2x Cortex-A55 @1.7GHz. A powerful CPU with up to 125° junction temperature. RAM, flash on board and interfaces such as LAN, CAN, USB, SDIO, UART, I2C, SPI, audio, GPIO, MIPI-CSI and MIPI-DSI are available. |
Heterogeneous multi-core processor conceptThe i.MX 93 is a heterogeneous multi-core application processor for embedded modules. It is ideal for applications that require powerful graphics processing and multimedia functions as well as Industry 4.0 applications. The processor consists of a single or dual ARM® Cortex®-A35 core with up to 1 GHz and a Cortex®-M33 core for real-time processing with 216 MHz. The processor also features a HIFI 4 DSP. The i.MX 8ULP offers various audio and voice functions via I2S. ➜ More information about the NXP i.MX 93In addition to the OSM module, F&S Elektronik also offers the development and manufacture of a suitable baseboard and then delivers the complete unit supplied, tested and, if required, with customer software installed, so that all that remains to be done is to unpack, install and switch it on. The operating system customised for the OSM modules is Linux. Linux Yocto supports all interfaces so that simple software development can be guaranteed without extensive hardware knowledge. FreeRTOS is available to control the real-time kernel (if available). Development boardFor an easy start to development, we offer an OSM starter kit ready to run with OSM modules, baseboard, 3.5" MIPI display, cables and access to documentation and software. The software includes the board support package and toolchain for Bare Metal or FreeRTOS. The range is rounded off by a broad spectrum of Software-Services, Workshops and free support via the Forum, E-Mail und Telefon. |
