Buildroot and Yocto

The Linux BSP "fsimx6-B2020.04" is based on Buildroot, a software for creating root file systems. About 1400 different software packages can be added to the root file system using menu control. The range of functions ranges from simple libraries and utilities to a complete Java environment to complete graphical environments such as Qt, Wayland/Weston or X11, including applications such as an HTML5-capable web browser. In this way, it is very easy to put together a customized Linux system.

As an alternative to Buildroot, there is also a Yocto-based environment. We offer the Linux BSP fsimx6-Y2020.03, which is based on Yocto.

Our standard configuration, which should give a first impression of the functional scope of the module, contains the following features: Busybox, gdb, alsa-utils, gstreamer, fbv, X11R7, matchbox, feh, openssl, openssh, ncurses, can-utils, iproute2, ftpd, httpd, telnet, tftp, and much more

Both BSPs include the source code packages from U-Boot (2018.03), Linux kernel (based on 4.9.88) and Buildroot (2019.05.01) or Yocto (2.4) adapted by F&S. In addition, our cross toolchain is included, some sample applications and all binaries in the standard configuration. And last but not least, detailed documents on the hardware are included as well as the first steps documentation for easy entry.

F&S also offers a virtual machine (based on VirtualBox) with an installed Linux based on the Fedora 27 distribution for free download. All packages necessary to translate our software are already installed. All services (NFS, TFTP) for working with our boards are also installed. Our BSP is unpacked and precompiled in the right directories. With this virtual machine it doesn't matter whether you use Windows or Linux as the host. Simply download the VHD, import it into VirtualBox and development can begin immediately.

Qseven Form Factor

Since the Qseven™ form factor was introduced; many manufacturers of boards and software have adopted it. The combination of Qseven™ and RISC gains more and more importance. The reason is the compatibility of the offered boards, as well as the small form factor (70x70mm) with an inexpensive plug connector. 

Long-term Availability

QBlissA9r2 uses a NXP i.MX 6 ARM® Cortex®-A9 CPU. Another characteristic is the long availability of the CPU of at least 15 years (NXP Product Longevity Program).

Multimedia CPU

Especially for multimedia, additional hardware units are available in i.MX6, relieving the CPU significantly and having a positive effect on fluid displaying and low power consumption. 

  

QBlissA9r2 comes with up to 4GByte DDR3 RAM, 1GByte SLC Flash, 32GB eMMC as well as Gigabit Ethernet. Further interfaces of QBlissA9r2 are USB 2.0 Host, USB 2.0 Device, CAN, I²C, SPI, AC97, SDIO, PCIe, SATA, MIPI-CSI Camera, serial interfaces as well as DVI (up to HD1080).

High-End Computer Graphics

The QBlissA9r2 allows an unprecedented combination of high-end computer graphic at simultaneously extremely low power loss.

The i.MX 6 CPU is available with Solo, DualLite, Quad and QuadPlus in the same housing. Enabling further versions of QBlissA9r2 in differenet performance ranges.
