Computer on Module mit PicoCore™MX8ULP

Ein weiteres Mitglied der kompakten PicoCore™ Computer On Module Produktfamilie wird mit NXP i.MX 8ULP CPU angeboten.
Die Formfaktorgröße von nur 35 x 40mm ermöglicht den Einsatz in kompakten Gehäusen. Das Modul verfügt über hervorragende Multimedia-Funktionen und eignet sich dank seiner Zuverlässigkeit ideal für Machine Learning und industrielle IoT-Anwendungen.

Heterogenes Multicore-Prozessor-Konzept

Ausgehend von der i.MX 8M Mini CPU und der i.MX 8M Plus CPU ergänzt die i.MX 8ULP CPU von NXP die i.MX 8/9 CPU Reihe ab.
Es wurden einige zusätzliche Funktionen und Schnittstellen hinzugefügt, wie z.B. Extrem Low Power, Cortex-M33, RGB und MIPI-DSI als Display-Schnittstellen und CAN, um nur einige zu nennen.

Der heterogene Mehrkernprozessor besteht aus bis zu zwei ARM® Cortex®-A35 Kernen (1GHz) und einem zusätzlichen Cortex®-M33 für die Echtzeitverarbeitung.

Displays können entweder über eine MIPI-DSI-Schnittstelle (4 Lanes) oder über RGB angeschlossen werden. Der i.MX 8ULP bietet 2D/ 3D GPU OpenGL/CL 3.1. Diese Einheit bietet ausreichend Leistung für eine moderne Benutzeroberfläche.

Der extrem stromsparende SoC i.MX8ULP eignet sich besonders für portable, batteriebetriebene Geräte. Ein kleines, kompaktes Modul ist daher die ideale Lösung für diese CPU.
Dieses SoM ist sowohl in einer Consumer- als auch in einer Industrieversion erhältlich.
Der PicoCore™-Standard (35x40 mm) verwendet zwei Steckverbinder (Hirose DF40C) mit je 100 Pins. Dies ermöglicht ein kompaktes Design und einen geringen Board-to-Board-Abstand (1,5-4 mm).

Ausstattung und Schnittstellen

Der PicoCore™MX8ULP verfügt über ausreichend Speicher (RAM und eMMC Flash). Das Modul bietet viele Schnittstellen an den 2x 100-poligen Steckern.
Der PicoCore™MX8ULP hat 1x 100Mb Ethernet (opt. RMII), 802.11 ax WLAN, BT 5.0LE, 1x USB Host 2.0, 1x USB Device OTG 2.0, max. 2x CAN, max. 4x UART, max. 4x I2C, max. 2x SPI und Audio Line In/ Out/ Mic/ Headphone oder I2S. Zusätzlich stehen RTC, PWM, 4x ADC mit 12 Bit, SPDIF, DMIC zur Verfügung.
Die Ansteuerung von Displays kann über eine RGB-Schnittstelle (24 Bit) oder MIPI-DSI-Schnittstelle (4 Lanes) erfolgen. Touchpanels können extern über I2C angeschlossen werden.

Betriebsystem

Das für den PicoCore™MX8ULP angepasste Betriebssystem ist Linux. Linux Yocto unterstützt alle Schnittstellen, so dass eine einfache Softwareentwicklung ohne große Hardwarekenntnisse gewährleistet werden kann. Zur Steuerung des Echtzeit-Kernels M33 steht FreeRTOS zur Verfügung.
